
The initial idea was to create 2–3 full-body poses of the character and about seven different facial expressions to convey various emotions. Therefore, the first step was to design full-body versions of Rea to better define
her appearance and personality.




However, we quickly decided that the character would be used exclusively as a face with various expressions, without the body. This marked the beginning of designing Rea’s face. Initially, we explored these options:

After discussions, it was decided that a less human-like design was needed—something more playful to match the app's style. This led to the creation of these sketches.
(We also decided to place the character directly into the shape it would be used in)


And so, the final design of Rea was finally chosen:


Each emotion was illustrated in vector format using Adobe Illustrator, and small animations
were created in Adobe After Effects:
